India is a vast coun try. India is situated in the southern part of Asia at the head Indian Ocean . This ocean is named after our country and India is the only country in the world after which an ocean is named. This has been partly due to central location of our country in relation to the other continents of the world.
India is centrally located on the South Asia . to east is the peninsula of Indo - china and on the west is the peninsula of Arabia.

Kanyakumari is situated at the at the southernmost tip of the mainland of India . This point is only 8° north of the Equator.
